May 2011

Now in its third year and established as one of the key art events in London’s summer calendar, Master Paintings Week is a collaboration between twenty-three leading galleries and three auction houses that takes place from 1 to 8 July 2011. This week of exhibitions and events offers a wonderful selection of European paintings dating from the 15th to the 20th centuries and coincides with the Old Master sales at Bonhams, Christie’s and Sotheby’s and another dealer initiative, Master Drawings London (1 to 8 July).

Dealers taking part in Master Paintings Week, 3 to 9 July 2010 reported up to 100 visitors a day (Johnny van Haeften had 300 on Sunday alone) and s.  Perusing the wonderful works on show were not only private collectors but also many arts professionals from museums and institutions including the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford); National Trust; National Gallery; National Galleries of Scotland and Tate Britain from the UK, Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh), The Cleveland Museum of Art (Ohio), Herbert F.

Following the success of London’s first Master Paintings Week in 2009, twenty-five of the world’s leading dealers and the three major auction houses will once again demonstrate the unparalleled expertise and quality of works of art available in the city.  Emphasising the importance of London, seven of the participating galleries originated elsewhere: Italy, Paris, New York and Stockholm.  From Saturday 3 to Friday 9 July 2010

Following the success of London’s first Master Paintings Week in 2009, this year’s event will be held from Saturday 3 to Friday 9 July 2010. This year the auction house Bonhams has joined Sotheby’s and Christie’s, and three new galleries: Deborah Gage (Works of Art) Ltd, Piacenti Art Gallery and Stair Sainty Ltd, swell the numbers to twenty-eight.

The first Master Paintings Week, London, 4 to 10 July, has been voted a resounding success by the two auction houses and twenty-three galleries taking part, the latter reporting up to 100 visitors a day from all over the world: Europe, Israel, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. “The gallery has been rocking” said Leopold Deliss of Verner Åmels.

Twenty-one of London’s top paintings dealers have joined forces with two auction houses to stage Master Paintings Week in London from Saturday 4 to Friday 10 July 2009. This new event is held to coincide with the auctions of Old Master Paintings and Master Drawings London and will encourage collectors, curators and other enthusiasts to come to London this summer. Each dealer will stage a special display or an event in their gallery to draw attention to the great paintings and unrivalled expertise to be found in London.
